Marigold

Overview

Made up of multiple layers of overlapping petals with the petals getting smaller and more condensed towards the flowers center, similiar to that of a carnation. The blooms may be single or double colored and can be varying hues of yellow, orange, red and maroon.

Water

They need moist soil for the first week or two after planting to establish a strong root system. Once established, they require watering around once per week and more often in summer when temperatures are high.

Light

Full sun. Requires at least 6 hours of sun but 8 hours is best. They can tolerate 20% shade if the rest is bright sun.

Soil

Marigolds require full sun and grow best in well- drained, loamy soil. Prepare flower beds by incorporating organic matter.
