Kale

Overview

Has a rosette of elongated leaves with wavy to frilled margins. The leaves are typically blue-green in colour but can also be light green, red, or purple, depending on the variety.

Water

Kale likes a nice, even supply of water, about 1 to 1.5 inches per week.

Light

Prefers full sun and does best with a lot of sunlight, but can tolerate partial shade.

Soil

Kale and collards do best in loamy, well-drained soil with high organic matter. You can achieve acceptable kale on heavier, well-drained soil. As long as you make sure the plants are well watered, you can do the same on sandier soils.
