Brussel Sprouts

Overview

Plants produce tall stalks and form buds of tightly packed edible leaves. These buds are removed from the stalk and cooked or shredded into greens. A light frost just as the buds are almost to size will improve the flavor and therefore usually grown in the fall.

Water

Prefers moist soil and requires regular water for the best formed buds. Try to avoid water on leaves and heads to prevent rot. Drip irrigation or other under foliage water techniques are the best for this crop.

Light

Full Sun

Soil

Prefers well drained, loose loamy soil with plenty of organic matter.
